21. A Census Recount

.... The 2010 census has taken the egregious step of counting illegal immigrants without distinguishing between them and U.S. Citizens. This is particularly worrisome because the census will be used to determine how many seats each state will have in Congress, and eventually, how many electoral votes it will have.
.
.... To understand the impact properly, let's break it down. There are 435 seats in the U.S. House of Representatives. This is a static number that will not grow when the overall population increases. Therefore, when the population of one state grows enough, a Congressional seat will be taken away from another state that has lost population, or has grown less quickly, and that state will lose representation.
.
.... According to the U.S. Census Bureau, there were 8.7 illegal aliens in the country in 2000. The real number today is between 12 and 20 million. Therefore the Southwestern states, which have the largest number of illegal aliens, will gain seats, and both the new representatives and those states will know that they owe their seats to this constituency. They will therefore support legislation to please them and make other allowances for them. This is an invitation for still more illegal aliens to come.
.
.... But on the other hand, Congressional seats will be taken away from other states, especially those in the Northeast, which have fewer illegal aliens. In other words, legitimate U.S. Citizens will lose representation in Congress so that non-citizens can gain it. Up to seven seats may change hands, partially on this basis. Let us repeat: legitimate citizens will be partially disenfranchised under this egregious decision.

.
.... This situation is outrageous and simply cannot be allowed to stand. Congress must approve immediate measures to discard the 2010 census and redo it properly, with a proper distinction between citizens and non-citizens for the purpose of federal representation. And in the meantime, states that will lose seats should bring an immediate lawsuit against the Federal government for the same reasons, including a request for an immediate injunction to prevent the present representation from being reassigned. Their harm, otherwise, may be catastrophic.
